Stanley Greene is an American photojournalist who does not like the term “photojournalist”. He is especially known for his images documenting war and conflict in Chechnya, Nagorno Karabakh, Iraq, Somalia, Croatia, Kashmir and Lebanon. He was encouraged to study photography by W. Eugene Smith and was a member of the Black Panthers and an activist against the Vietnam war. Greene has overcome mental health and drug problems during his career and was almost killed when covering a coup attempt in the White House in Moscow. He has received numerous awards, including the W. Eugene Smith Award in 2004 and has won the World Press Photo award five times. He has also published many photography books.
Stanley Greene es un fotógrafo estadounidense que no le gusta el término "reportero gráfico". Es especialmente conocido por sus imágenes que documentan la guerra y el conflicto en Chechenia,Nagorno-Karabaj, Irak, Somalia, Croacia, Cachemira y el Líbano. Se le alentó a estudiar fotografía de W. Eugene Smith, y fue miembro de las Panteras Negro y activista contra la guerra de Vietnam. Greeneha superado los problemas de salud mental y drogas durante su carrera y casi fue asesinado en la cobertura de un intento de golpe de Estado en la Casa Blanca de Moscú.
