Stanley Greene is an American photojournalist who does not like the term “photojournalist”. He is especially known for his images documenting war and conflict in Chechnya, Nagorno Karabakh, Iraq, Somalia, Croatia, Kashmir and Lebanon. He was encouraged to study photography by W. Eugene Smith and was a member of the Black Panthers and an activist against the Vietnam war. Greene has overcome mental health and drug problems during his career and was almost killed when covering a coup attempt in the White House in Moscow. He has received numerous awards, including the W. Eugene Smith Award in 2004 and has won the World Press Photo award five times. He has also published many photography books.

Sadly enough Chris Hondros of Getty Images also lost his life after being gravely injured by a mortar attack in the city of Misurata, Libya, where Tim Hetherington also lost his life and two other photographers were injured.

Photographer Tim Hetherington died today in the city of Misurata, Libya.Tim, Christ Hondros Getty Images, Guy Martin of Panos Pictures and freelance photographer Michael Brown were hit by a RPG, Tim was the only casualty the others a wounded and being treated. of

Time Hetherington was a seasoned photographer with a vast experience covering conflict zones. He was nominated for an Oscar for his documentary film RESTREPO and had won many awards including World Press Photo.

Rest in peace and he will be missed.

I am starting a print sale in order to raise funds continue doing independent photojournalism on underreported issues. As an independent journalist, personal projects are part of being a photographer. I believe that the goal of a documentary photographer is to create images that can visually translate the reality one witnesses using a critical eye and a mind full of ethics. It is becoming more and more difficult to secure assignments from mainstream media outlets in locations and on issues such as Haiti's rebuilding, El Salvador's continuing post-war unrest and many other important, yet under-reported issues. Two of my images from Haiti's earthquake aftermath have been chosen to be part to the LA REALIDAD FUERA DE FOCO (Out Of Focus Reality) exhibit in El Salvador. The photography festival and month takes place every September in El Salvador and ESFOTO is an exhibition dedicated to photojournalism. The exhibition will be on display at the PHOTOCAFES galley in San Salvador until Ocotober 31st.

Today is the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero. He was shot to death while he celebrated mass on March 24th 1980 "When he finished his sermon, he walked to the middle of the altar; at that moment, the shot rang out," says Sister Luz Isabel.

His death marked a turning point in the country's history, he became a martyr and symbol of the struggles for a better country. To many he was a hero to others he was a priest that should have not gotten involved in politics. He is one of the top 10 person on the Vatican's list to be canonized and became an iconic figure of the social struggle in Latin America. Today for the first time since the peace accords the Salvadoran government recognize the assassination of archbishop Óscar Romero was a state crime.

Me complazco en comunicarles que mi amigo Wayne Lawrence, quien es un talentozo asi como un gran fotógrafo, docuemntal con enfoque en los retratos, ha sido selecionado por la revista PDN como uno de los 30 nuevos y emergentes fotógrafo del 2010. Conozco a Wayne desde hace mucho años y se que es un apasionado fotografo y muy trabajador. Lo felicito y le deseo mucho exito en su vida como fotografo. As a photographer I am pleased and excited that a Salvadoran photographer was awarded the Daily Life: 1st prize singles by this prestigious organization World Press Photo.The image is very powerful not because of the disturbing dead body but the look on the kids faces as they pass by it on their way to school. This is a sad seen for the Salvadorans' people, a society that spent 12 years in a bloody civil war which left physical wounds as well as physiological. This image shows the shattered innocence of the children, our youth, and our future that have to grow up in a violent society. This kind of scenes and new in the country has become part of everyday life, just like bumper to traffic jams. Sometimes the when a crime such as this one happens many people come out to see it sometimes with their children, as it was a normal thing to watch. Now the people are experiencing a different kind of conflict but just as bloody as the civil war. El Salvador is considered one of the most dangerous countries around the world, in 2008 murders reached 3,175; in 2007 2,497, and in 2006 3,618 and has the highest murder rate in the world for young adults, 15-24 years old. The only peace that exists in El Salvador is the word PEACE written on the 1992 accords, which brought an end to the armed conflict.

Como fotógrafo me complace y emociona que una fotógrafa salvadoreña se le otorgara el premio WORLD PRESS PHOTO en la categoria de Vida Diaria: 1 º Premio imágenes individuales. La imagen es muy potente no debido al preocupante cadáver, pero la mirada de los niños que observan el muerto al pasar en el microbus escolar. Esta es una triste escena para el pueblo salvadoreño, una sociedad que pasó por 12 años en una sangrienta guerra civil que dejó heridas físicas y psiológicas. Esta imagen muestra la destruida inocencia de los niños, nuestra juventud, nuestro futuro y que tienen que crecer en una sociedad violenta. Este tipo de escenas se han convertido en parte de la vida cotidiana, como tráfico de la hora pico. A veces, cuando el crimenes de este tipo ocurren a muchas personas salen a ver, en veces con sus hijos, como si fuese una cosa normal. Ahora la gente está experimentando un diferente tipo de conflicto, pero igual de sangrienta que la guerra civil. El Salvador es considerado uno de los países más peligrosos de todo el mundo, en 2008 alcanzó 3.175 homicidios, en 2007 2.497 y en 2006 3.618 y tiene la mayor tasa de homicidios en el mundo de los adultos jóvenes, 15-24 años de edad. La única paz que existe en El Salvador es la palabra PAZ escrita en los acuerdos de 1992, que puso fin al conflicto armado.

I want to share this great work, being done by documentary photographer Rick Rocamora, about people living on the streets of Manila, as rick says:

"The series is about families in Metro Manila who make meager income from the underground economy. Because they don’t earn enough, they improvised on their living arrangements and find alternatives to meet their basic needs. The unfortunate part is that they are not transients, many of them live on the streets for months and years, raising their families, sending their kids to school and continually using their urban survival skills to cope with their difficulties."

The crime wave continues in El Salvador, the problem has become very grave, the new government is facing tough criticism for not finding a solution and even the president (Funes) has admitted that things are getting out of hand. Everyday, people are being murder, robbed, extorted, etc. Yes, criminal activity is an everyday life thing but now it has gotten really bad for Salvadorans. People just don't feel safe and businesses (mostly small businesses) are being hit hard by the insecurity of the nation. Reports show that, as of now, there have been more than 3,000 homicides (since January of 2009). One of the alarming things is that the World Health Organization (WHO) holds that that a rate of 10 homicides per 100.000 inhabitants, this can be seen as an epidemic.

As the New Year approaches the country will find out if they have broken a record in homicides per year and hope that 2010 brings a more peaceful wave.

A taxi driver and his passenger were shot to death and the vehicle stolen. None of showed signs of being robbed, so the reason for the crime is unknown. The passenger is believed to have been an innocent bystander.

La ola de criminalidad continúa en El Salvador, el problema se ha vuelto muy grave, el nuevo gobierno se enfrenta a duras críticas por no encontrar una solución e incluso el presidente (Funes) ha admitido que las cosas están en muy mal estado. Cada día, personas estan siendo asesinadas, otras son victimas de robo y extorsión, etc. Sí, la actividad criminal es una cosa la vida cotidiana, pero ahora se ha vuelto desastrosa para los salvadoreños. La gente simplemente no se sienten segura y las empresas (más la micro) se están viendo afectadas por la inseguridad de la nación. Los informes indican que hasta ahora han habido más de 3.000 homicidios (desde enero de 2009). Una de las cosas más alarmantes es que la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) sostiene que el país tiene una tasa de 10 homicidios por cada 100.000 habitantes, esto puede ser visto como una epidemia.

El nuevo año se aproxima y eso traera la noticia de que si se ha batido un récord en los homicidios por año, y esperamos que el nuevo año traiga una ola de paz.

Just a look at environmental issues. I found this leafless tree in the middle of junk metal at a metal scrap meting plant and metal factory. The tree caught my eye as I was leaving the facility, just standing there observing how its environment was being invaded without any concern for its well being.

On that thought, this week the whole climate change issues are under discussion in the Global Climate conference in Copenhagen. Where many civil society organizations raise their voices over the global warming issue not getting enough funding and attention.

At the event a proposal suggested cutting carbon emissions by 17% by 2020 from 2005 levels and a study by Britain's Met Office indicate that the world will reach record high in 2010.

Project Movimiento Sin Plomo in Photophilanthrophy

I am pleased to announce that a project I have been working on for a couple of years made it to the final cut of the Photophilanthropy competition. The project is based on a community in Sito El Niño, San Juan Opico, El Salvador. This community was contaminated with lead by a national car battery factory for years. Once the community were fully aware of the atrocity, they organized themselves and were able to shut down the factory. Now they are fighting for their health, children, restoration of their lives and dignity. Hondurans came out to cast their votes to elect a new president. Now Hondurans have a new president, or should I say 3 presidents. One is the ousted president Zelaya, the second is interim prsident Micheletti and newly elected president "Pepe Lobo. Five months have passed and the country has been under political turmoil since the coup d'etat (on June 28th) where president Zelaya was expelled from the country. The presidential elections outcome will not be recognized by most of the international community. Election day in Tegucigalpa was pretty smooth and a good turn-out but in San Pedro Sula where disturbances between protesters and police was the center of the attention. The country is a little tense and we will have to wait and see if in the next few day or before the presidential inauguration in January 2010 the Zelaya situation is resolved.

Election day in Tegucigalpa has been pretty smooth and a relatively good turn-out. I cannot say the same about San Pedro Sula where there were some disturbances, clash between protesters and police which did not lasted long but nonetheless was a problem.

Got up to the historical Golden Gate bridge and found this view of the 7x7 city, so for fun as well as practice to keep my eye and mind active I made this image. During the past few weeks the sunrises and sunsets have been very nice and full of color, so finally got my ass out to shoot something I rarely do. Here is the result.

Can someone explain to me, why? I believe that there are other people doing a lot more for peace than him. Obama has not been able fulfill (some of the important) issues that he promised while running for the presidency, even with a democratic super majority.

I feel he made history in becoming the firs black president in the (still racist) United States, but he is proving to be just another politician with a lots for strings attached. I hope he changes and really makes the change he talked about. I don't think he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Just my two cents!

I received sad new yesterday night, my friend and colleague Jose Cabezas, called me to give the sad news that our friend Christan Poveda had been assassinated earlier in the day. Christian Poveda was a Franco-Spanish photojournalist and filmmaker who had been living in El Salvador for years and was the creator a the powerful documentary La Vida Loca, which takes an intimate look at the gang life of the 18 Street gang in the Campanera situated in the city of Soyapango.

He will be missed, he was doing much need photojournalistic work in the country. We need more people like him in our country. May you rest in peace Christian!

The participants have been selected and one of my images made it to the exhibition and will be also included in the catalogue. The exhibition opening will be on September 4th at PHOTOCAFES gallery in San Salvador. On June 28^th the Honduran peoples woke up to a different county. In the early hours of the day the democratically elected president Manuel Zelaya also known as Mel, was taken out of his house. He was placed in a plane and sent to the neighboring country of Costa Rica, still wearing his pajamas. A coup d’état. The gory that followed split the country and created an undemocratic state. Tegucigalpa and other cities have experience massive marches in support of and the international community have condemned the coup. The diplomatic efforts to find a resolution have drained. Hondurans try to go about their daily life but the future of the country look uncertain and a solution is yet to come.

As of today Tegucigalpa looks and sounds calm. I do not know if it is because things have quite down due to the fact that the movement is loosing momentum or its Sunday. The border town of El Paraiso is also untroubled. On Tuesday Zelaya will be visiting Washington D.C. to further more discuss his situation. We'll see.

As of now president Zelaya has entered Honduras protected by the people who support him. The Honduran situation will get interesting in the next few days. As Mel makes his way back to the capital followed by his people, on the other side, supporters of Roberto Micheletti and the new imposed government are holding rallies in San Pedro Sula and other cities. Lets hope for the well being of the Honduran peoples that things can be solved in a non-violent way. Having said that and knowing the current and as well as the past history of the country it looks like this will turn badly. The new imposed government will not return power to Mel, just like Zelaya will not accept anything but the presidential seat. The clash between supports of Mel and the Military as well as followers of Micheletti is inevitable. Now the marcher will not be enough and will not be as peaceful as they have been. It is sad to see this kind of situation happening now days in Central America, for many this kind of acts were things of the past but as we now know they are still there. Causing us to go backwards and not allowing the evolution of our societies.

Salvadorans came out to show support for Manuel Zelaya president of Honduras who has been in exile due to a coup d'état. He arrived to El Salvador on Friday, July 2 on an invitation by the Salvadoran president Mauricio Funes to discuss the current situation in Honduras and his possible return to his homeland.>

Since the peace accords signings the country entered a post-war era full misfortunes, varying from organize crime, natural disasters, privatization of many national institutions, dollarization, gangs (better known as Maras) among many other problems.

The right wing party Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (ARENA) that held power since the end of the war did a poor job at creating a stable country. Salvadorans felt that the government had failed in making their country a safe and prosperous place to live. The country’s infrastructure improved during the 20-year right wing reign but its development was little. This situation created a massive immigration of its citizens to the United States mainly as well as other parts of the world. The country has come a long waybut has not moved forward. On June 1^st when Mauricio Funes officially takes office, he will inherit a country torn by violence, economic crisis, high unemployment, a weak health sector and other major problems.

On March 15^th “Hope and Change” happened in El Salvador. Mauricio Funes a well-respected journalist turned politician won the presidency and made history by becoming the firs left wing president of the country since the peace accords were signed in 1992. The Frente Farabunto Marti para la Liberacion Nacional (FMLN) a guerrilla group that became a political party as part of the peace treaty which ended the 12 year civil war, chose Mr. Funes for his journalistic ethics, popularity and knowledge as well as understanding of the social, economic and political problems of the country. Their campaign was run with the motto “Nace la Esperanza, Viene el Cambio” (Change is Here, Hope has Arrived) and joining the crusade of Hope and Change was Salvador Sanchez Ceren a former guerrilla commander, now a representative of the FMLN party at the national assembly as the vice-president candidate. Mauricio kept a lead on most trusted polls of the country through out the campaign season and was able to obtain the support a large part of Salvadorans who were not part of the hard or militant vote, from the middle class and even gained trust in the private and elite sector, which has traditionally leaned to the right. The celebrations started early as the voted were being counted late in the day. The faces of joy that finally changed had arrived and of astonishment of those who could not believe that the left wing party had finally won the presidential seat. Many cities around the country held street celebrations and caravans to commemorate the historical event.

I finally had the honor of hearing Stanley Greene speak at an event last night in San Francisco, where he also showed his marvelous work. I consider his style and way of telling life stories, deep, artistic, touching and very interesting. He also spoke about the photo collective called NOOR he founded with a few other great photographer. It was very inspiring hearing him talk about how the agency was created, the philosophy behind it, why they felt they had to come together as responsible photographer to be part of something more than just an agency that sell images, but an agency that can take on personal projects without the commercialization of it. Where the photographer has a duty to report on issues that need to be known and also try throught their imagery consciousness to the mind of other people. I am glad that I finally had the opportunity to meet him and realize he is the kind of person I thought he would be.

Finalmente tuve el privilegio de escuchar hablar al fotógrafo Stanley Greene en un evento de anoche en San Francisco, donde también mostró su maravilloso trabajo. Considero que su estilo y manera de contar las historias de la vida es profundo, artístico y muy interesante. También habló del colectivo fotografico llamado NOOR el cual fundó junto con otros grandes fotógrafos. Fue muy inspirador escucharlo hablar sobre su el porque hace su trabajo y la filosofía detrás del porque se creo el colectivo NOOR. Las razones porque tenian que unirse como fotógrafos responsables para ser parte de algo más que una agencia que vende imágenes, sino una agencia que puede tomar proyectos personales sin la comercialización de la misma. El fotógrafo tiene la obligación de informar sobre cuestiones que deben darce a conocer y tratar de abrir el pensamiento, atravez de sus imágenes, la conciencia de las personas. Me alegro de que finalmente tuve la oportunidad de conocerlo y darme cuenta de que es el tipo de persona que yo pensaba que sería.

Today (January 20, 2009) Barack Obama is going to be sworn in as the new president of the United States. He is the firs black president in the history of this country and has brought a message of “hope and change”. Now we have wait and see if he brings what the so much needed change that this country needs in order to maintain its status and way of life. Having a black president is something to be proud of but if he continues the same politics (or politricks), which have brought the country to this sad situation, then he is just another politician in power. Let’s hope that is not the case, but only time will tell. We HOPE that he will be different...

This day came full of sunshine with a nice San Francisco chill wind typical of the city, very beautiful weather compared to the previous day. It was the day where the citizens of the United States were given for the first time a choice to elect a black man as their president. People all over the nation went out to vote (voting records were broken) with a sense of hope and change was in the air; others wanted to keep things as they were. After casting my vote, I went on to photograph the day feeling that this day was a day to document, a very important day, historic day a good day. As I walked the streets, I realize that in many ways it was just another day. Lot’s of people and life went on with its business. I saw people chatting, having their daily drink at a bar, arrest being made, kids skating, people living their day as the day before and as they would the next day.

Regardless, it was a historic day, as the night came so did the electoral results and it was clear that “the day had come”. Around 7 p.m. I was watching the news, they announced that Obama had won Pennsylvania and Ohio, it was then that I knew a dream had come true, one of the dreams Martin Luther King Jr. had during his famous “I have a Dream” speech. Obama had made history by becoming the first black president in this 200 plus years old nation (I say plus because it varies; from when the Constitution went into effect in 1789, then is 216 years old; from when the Declaration of Independence in 1776, then is 229 years old; If, but you ask England, they recognized the United States in 1783, so according to them is 222 years old.).

But it wasn’t until about 8 pm that Obama was officially declared the 44th president of the United States, gave his speech and then the party started. People started to cheer, cry, hug, sing, run, and expressing their joy. The streets of San Francisco started to be filled with people, little by little everyone started coming out to celebrate, celebration parties were held on the streets all over the city, it was joyful madness.

For many it was a dream they thought it was never going to happen in their lifetime, for others it was HOPE, other felt that CHANGE had arrived, to others it was just another president being elected, some felt they had lost. Whichever you political or racial point of view is history was made that day…

Una de las rezones por la cual pude darle covertura a las convenciones fue por aquellos quienes me dieron alojo durante estos días. On the way to cover the second day of the convention I met a Delfino, a Mexican immigrant who resides in Saint Paul but works in Eagan. He is a native of beautiful and world famous Acapulco, our conversation was about being a Latino immigrant in the U.S., family, remembering our native land and last but not least how some Latinos act once they live here, among many other things. This kind of experiences which make being a photojournalist a wonderful thing and life a lot more interesting. Talking to people is the best way to learn about the real life. The bus ride felt shorter and he helped by guiding me through a shorter way of getting to the Xcel Center.

Camino a cubrir el segundo día de la convenicón conocí a Delfino, nativo de México quien reside en San Paul pero trabaja en la ciudad de Eagan. Originario del lindo Acapulco, conversamos sobre el ser inmigrante en los Estados Unidos, la familia, recordamos nuestras tierras natales y sobre como actunl siertos latinos aquí en el país, entre otros temas. Estos encuentros y experiencias son las que hacen el ser fotoperiodista un cosa maravillosa y la vida mucho mas interesante. Hablar con la gente es la major manera de aprender sobre la vida. El viaje se sintio más corto y tambíen ayudoa guiandome sobre un atajo para llegar el centro de convenciones Xcel.

After a long walk and a peaceful march, which ended in front of the Xcel Energy Center.... the cops, were ready to go use some of that equipment they got for this special occasion (the RNC). As the people were leaving peacefully and of course there were a few shouting stuff at the police, but nothing threatening or major, out of NOWHERE the tear gas started popping on the streets, one after the other. People starter running away from the harmful gas and on the other corner the cops used pepper spray against the scared crowd.

All these was uncalled for, but they had planned, as the crowd started walking away from the center, the cops were already lined up, with their batons and gas mask on, so it was premeditated. Many had tot go to be taken to the hospital to get treated for eye injuries...

After experiencing my first tear gas attack, all those things I was told about (how painful it was) are very true. As a witness, being in the middle of it, I can assure you that the cops over reacted to the situation.

The use of these harmful chemicals was NOT NECESSARY!

This is the where one of the many tear gas bombs exploded causing harm to the crowd which included "MINNESOTA PEACE TEAM" members (most of them elder) which is a group that responds to community request to be present in potentially volatile situations, to keep the peace and serve as mediators.

Esta es la marca donde una de las capsulas de gas lacrimógeno explotó. causando daño a la multitud la cual incluía a miembros del “CUERPO DE PAZ DE MINESOTA” (la mayoria de ellos personas de la tercera edad) el cual es un grupo comunitario que acude por peticón de la comunidad para el mantenimiento de paz en situaciones volátiles.

Despues de una larga y pacífica marcha la cual terminó frente al centro de convenciones Xcel Energy…los policias, estaban listos para usar algunas de sus armas antimotines que habían adquerido para esta occasión (la convención Republicana). Mientras los participantes de la marcha pacíficamente caminaban fuera de la zona protegida donde la marcha habia finalizado, y déjenme decir que sí habían aquéllos que gritaban insultos a la policia pero nada que se considerara como peligro, de repente comenzaron a caer las cápsulas de gas lacrimógeno. El pánico se difundió entre la gente y comenzaron a correr calle arriba para salir de la zona cercada. En la otra esquina los policías usaron el spray de pimienta con algunas de las personas que corrian fuera de la zona contaminada con gas lacrimógeno. Todo lo que ocurrió fue innecesario, pero por lo visto ya estaba decidido y planeado por la policía, ya que al caminar despues de la marcha por la calle que llevaba fuera de la zona cercada la policía ya estaba formanda en linea de ataque, con sus mascaras anti-gas puestas, porra y listos para usar los jugetitos que les habían dado. Todo fue premeditado, muchos tubierón que ser llevados al hopital para ser atendidos medicamente. El uso de estos quimicos: ¡NO ERA NECESARIO! Esta fue mi primera experiencia con el gas lacrimógeno y déjenme decirles que todo lo que me habían dicho (sobre lo doloroso y pésimo que es) termino siendo bien cierto. Como testigo, ya que estaba en medio de la multitud cuando los oficiales comezaron a dispara sus armas antimotines, les puedo asegurar que los policías exageraron y no necesitaban hacerle este tipo de daño a los manifestantes.

Well, on my way I was to Minneapolis to pick up my credentials, little did I know that so early in the morning I was going to be a target of suspicion or racial profiling. As I wonder through the metro station to find out the cost of the fair, which train to take and figure out how in the hell the twin cities where so far apart. They are more like far away cousins, anyhow... I was approached by a "mall security guard" who for some odd reason and it is the first time a security guard has asked me, for my business card, who I work for, where Am I from, were is the agency......After answering all these innocent questions to the "mall security guard" I went ahead and ask him to help me get to downtown Minneapolis. Well, it turned out that the "mall security guard" did not know which train I needed to take, point out where we were and where the Minneapolis convention center was, even better he did not know how much the fare was. What this "mall security guard" did not know was that I knew he was from the secret service the moment I saw him pass by me, before he even notice my presence.

Camino a Mineapolis, ya que tenia que recoger mis credenciales, nunca me imagine que esa mañana seria blanco de perfil racial o despertar las sospechas del servicio secreto. Mientras caminaba al rededor de la estacion de tren, tratando de averiguar cuanto costaba el pasaje asi a las ciudades gemelas (las cuales no estan tan cerca como uno se lo imaginaria).
En fin, de repente se me acerco un (de acuerdo a el) agente de seguridad el cual me comenzo hacer mil y una pregunta (nunca antes un simple agente de seguridad me habia hecho tantas preguntas), me pidio mi tarjeta de porsentacion, para quien cubriendo la convencion, donde venia, en que ciudad la agencia, porque queria ir a Mineaoplis. Despues de contestar sus inocentes preguntas segui a hacer las mias, como llegar al centro de Mineaoplis?

Cuanto costaba el pasaje? cual era el tren que tenia que tomar? Y de todas las preguntas no me pudo contestar ni una de ellas.

Lo que no sabia el ‘agente de seguridad” que mucho antes que el se acercara a mi yo ya lo habia visto y dado cuenta que era un agente del Servicio Secreto.

On the first day of the RNC a massive protest took over the spotlight. About 10,000 or 30,000 (depending on who you talk to) people took over the streets of downtown Saint Paul. Some 45 persons where arrested including Amy Goodman of Democracy Now. Clashes between the police and protesters happened, some were pepper sprayed while confronting the police including a few journalist. Republicans made their presence and showed support for their beloved candidate.... Republicans are working it...

Night time at the convention and time for some...for the republicans who have a long night due to a short first day event.

The story continues tomorrow! Well it depends on what Gustav says.

Durante el primer día de la convención Republicana una gran protesta se llevo acabo y fue el tema más interesante. Más de 10,000 o 30,000 personas (depende a quién le preguntes) tomaron las calles del centro de San Paul, hubieron más de 45 personas arrestadas incluyendo a la reconocida presentadora del noticiero Democracy Now. Durante la protesta hubieron enfrentamientos entre la policía y manifestantes, los cuales fueron atacados con spray de pimienta, incluyendo algunos periodistas. Partidiarios republicanos hicieron presencia durante las marchas. Apoyando a su querido candidato. Los republicanos hechandole ganas. Los republicanos quienes acudian a la convención tuvieron bastante tiempo libre ya que muchos de los eventos programados se habían cancelado por respecto a la s personas que serian afectadas por el hurancán Gustav, el cual estaba por tocar tierra estadounidense.

¡El cuento continuará mañana! Bueno todo depende de Gustav….

A couple of flags where painted on the grass along the side of the freeway. I notice them on my way to downtown Saint Paul. I don't know if they are there permanently or just for this special occasion.

Sobre la carretera que lleva así el centro de San Paul, abserve un par de banderas estadounidenses pintadas a los constados. No sé si estas banderas son permanentes o se colocaron allí sólo por la ocasión.

I am pleased to announce that two of my photographs have made it into the ESFOTOPERIDISMO 08. This is dedicated to photojournalism and the theme was "Mirar de Más" (Deeper Look) which is part of the El Salvador photography festival which takes place each year in the month of September.

Me alegra comunicarles que dos de mis imagénes forman parte de ESFOTOPERIDISMO 08. El festival de fotografía se lleva acabo cada año en el mes de Septiembre. Este foro esta dedicado al fotoperiodismo. El tema de este año fue "Mirar de Mas".
